With the appointment of Russ he becomes the 5th Head Coach of the Junior Program since its inception in 2003. Coach Smithson brings considerable experience and knowledge to our program, critical for the proper development of our members.
As a Port Coquitlam native, he went on to play for the Fraser Valley Orioles as part of their Championship team winning the 2000 Big League World Series, one of the very few Canadian teams ever to win this title. Later Russ joined the Langley Blaze (Big League) during their infancy (in 2001) winning a National Big League title. While with the Blaze he enjoyed a successful season that then propelled him onto the Canadian Junior National Team as a starting infielder. He capped his summer with a scholarship to El Paso CC in Texas were he helped the Tejanos’ win back to back Conference Championships. Russ finished his distinguished college career off at the University of Kentucky in 2006.
After his very successful playing career Russ shifted his attention to the coaching ranks returning to his roots. For the past 2 years Russ has managed the Tri-Cities Midget AAA club in addition to heading up the Coaching and Player Development Program for Port Coquitlam Minor Baseball.

Coach Sidhoo enters his third full year with the Tritons. As the club’s Pitching Coach our staff enjoyed a successful 09 season where they posted the second best ERA(1.90) in the PBL.
Coach Sidhoo is a product of the Coquitlam Reds organization and after one year at Douglas College he went on to attend Dickinson Sate University, where he played for Coach Monlux for 3 years, appearing in two NIAA Regional Championships (2005-2006). In 2004 was selected to the All Conference Team as a pitcher. During his career Sidhoo established a number of the school records including wins, innings pitched, starting appearances, strike outs and complete games.
After graduating with a degree in Education, Coach Sidhoo’s started his coaching career with the Red Legs under then coach Bill Green.

Coach Ladouceur enters his second season with the Tritons after very productive rookie season with the 16U Club. A recent Alum from Dickinson State University where he earned an Education/ Coaching degree, Adam played two successful seasons at third base and as a senior was selected to the All-Conference Team, helping the Bluehawks to school records for wins and consecutive DAC titles and earning them a #18 ranking in the NAIA. Adam assisted in coaching the Bluehawks in the fall of 07.
Adam has played on successful Provincial and National teams growing up including Kennedy Surrey and Delta. He currently teaches P.E. in the Richmond School District and also instructs at the Ballpark in Richmond.
Coach Ladoucuer will assume some of the responsibility working with our infielders.

Joining Coach Smithson will be his long time friend Mike Bird who himself has gathered a rather extensive and impressive coaching resume. Coach Bird is just coming off a successful 2009 season winning the Western Canadian Bantam AAA title as the coach of the Tri Cities Indians. Over the span of his coaching career year, Mike has won a Midget AAA Provincial Championship with the Tri Cities and been a Provincial finalist twice.
Mike too is Port Coquitlam native who played his minor baseball for the Indians, winning two Provincial Championships and a Western Canadian title over his playing career. Mike brings to the Tritons a wealth of experience in dealing with the young players that will be joining the program. We are very confident that Mike will be provide the necessary skills to help develop these talent players for the future. Part of Mike’s responsibility will to provide guidance for our developing pitching staff .
Mike now resides in Coquitlam
