2005609_3White Rock Triton’s RHP, Mitch Hodge has fulfilled a childhood dream today being selected 126th overall by the Kansas City Royals in today’s MLB Amateur Draft.2007draft_2

Hodge was the third player from the Canadian National Junior Team taken today. RHP, Phillip Aumont from Quebec taken 11th overall by Seattle and Langley Blaze standout RHP Kyle Lotzkar, 53rd overall by the Reds were taken in the first round and supplemental round respectively.

Congratulations to all and their families for this tremendous accomplishment.

KevinatkinsonsmFormer Triton Kevin Atkinson was named to the 2007 NJCAA All Tournament Team at the 2007 NJCAA World Series completed this past weekend. Atkinson’s New Mexico Thunderbirds lost to Chipola CC of Florida in the series final. Atkinson finished with a . 423 ba and 8 rbi fo the tournament

Congatulations also go out to former PBL standouts Drew Parker and JR Robinson both named to the same Tournament Team. Parker was also named Tournament MVP with 2 wins and 2 saves for Chipola 2007 World Series Champions. Robinson ( New Mexico) went 1-0.

In other post season news,  2006 Triton grad Mike Sloback was named to the WJCAC All-Star team that will compete against the east side of Region V next October. 

Sloback saw time a shortstop, second base and designated hitter for the NMMI Broncos.    As a freshman, Sloback .315 in 35 games.

This week NMJC is rated #1 in NJCAA Division I Baseball.

        RHP, Chris Davis (freshman, Richmond, BC) pitched a scoreless inning for the George Washington Colonials in a 7-1 loss to the Florida Gators before 2,638 fans at McKethan Stadium in Gainesville, Fla. Davis didn’t allow a hit, walking one. …

   RHP, Sean Sargent (senior, Langley, BC) pitched five scoreless in a 6-0 win over the Pacific Boxers in front of 101 fans at Joe Etzel Field in Portland, Ore. Sargent allowed two hits, striking out three as he went to 1-0.
