TRITONS RUN THEIR RECORD TO 9-0
A sloppy defense was on display by the Tritons today, committing 6 errors on there way to two fortunate wins over the Nanaimo Pirates at the SSAP. Despite 18 hits on the day capped by a solo home run by Milan Mantle to spark a late inning comeback, the Tritons had to battle to maintain their undefeated record.
LHP Blake Stewart was impressive as he came in late in the first game to hold off the Nanaimo offense long enough for his team to mount the comeback to get his first win of the season. RHP Thomas Stone pitched another complete game to get the win in the second game.
ON SATURDAY
Despite an anemic offense the 18U Tritons continue to get quality starts from their pitching staff. Today at Mundy Park RHP Derek Stebbe and RHP Milan Mantle pick up their second wins on the season with two strong performances. Both limiting the Reds offense to 11 hits, allowing just three runs on the day to get the third sweep of the young season.
Reliever Josh Stelting with another strong relief appearance getting two saves on the day.
Offense was led by OF Liam Dolphin continues to swing a hot bat going 3 for 5 on the day with a walk. Jerod Bartnik and Keeenn Chanin each added doubles to the 8 hits in the first game. Singles to Stone, Paolini and Bergsma. Tritons only managed only one hit in the second.
Next up for the Tritons are the Nanaimo Pirates who visit the SSAP, Sunday, start time 12:00 pm
