Former Triton standout Chad Stang currently attending Midland Community College in Texas has accepted a scholarship to Louisiana State in Baton Rouge where he will play for Tigers starting next September. LSU has been a regular participant in the NCAA Tournament and has been a regular contender to win the College World Series.
Chad Stang won a PBL batting title in 2007 with the Tritons along with a selection to the Canadian National Junior Team. Stang is coming off a good 2008 season with the Chaparrals hitting .324 with nine home runs and 48 RBI. In addition Stang was ranked by Baseball America as one of the top prospects in the New York College League playing for the Glenn Falls Golden Eagles this past summer.
Stang said he expects to compete for the starting center fielder job with the Tigers next year.
